European Foundation Center |
Since January 2006, the Foundation has been a member of EFC, the European Foundation Center in Brussels, acting as the reference and gathering point for grant-making foundations and corporate citizens. Established in 1989, the EFC today serves a core membership of more than 200 members, 350 philanthropic initiatives and over 50,000 organizations linked through a worldwide network of 58 information and support centers. |

In 2005, after it acquired a 0.576% share in the European Institute of Oncology (IEO), the Foundation joined Italcementi in supporting the activities of this prestigious, non-profit private health institute. The IEO is based in Milan and iswell-known for its innovative health care practices. Its purpose is to set up, organize and manage clinics, health and science centers to cure and prevent cancer, pursue cancer research and related scientific and educational activities. |

In 2006 the Foundation joined as main partner the Foundation for Advanced Biomedical Research in Padua.
The Venetian Institute of Molecular Medicine (VIMM)
is a new center for advanced biomedical research. It was established by the Foundation for Advanced Biomedical Research (a private consortium) as a joint venture with the University of Padova and the Padova Health Authority.
The VIMM is strategically located between the University Hospital and the Preclinical Science Campus, and it occupies an area of about 3,000 m2 once renovation of the remaining 8,000 m2 by the University of Padova will be completed, the Complex will become the major Center for Research in Molecular Medicine in the Veneto Region.
Creation of the VIMM, a modern building with all the core Facilities for advanced research, was made possible by private fund-raising, which actively involved Industries and Financial Institutions. The basic research themes of the Institute will revolve around four basic areas: Structural biology, cellular biology, host-pathogen interactions and its implications for gene therapy, and cellular and molecular oncology.
The Institute starts on solid scientific foundations, due to the contribution of several established group leaders. |
