Fondazione Italcementi Cav. Lav. Carlo Pesenti has recently become operative.
In January 2005, it launched a fund-raising campaign in support of the survivors of the tragic Tsunami disaster of December 2004.

The aim of this fund-raising scheme is to build a vocational training school in Sri Lanka to provide a future for the young. In addition, the Foundation has made grants to both organizations and destitute social communities in Bergamo area.
It has offered support in particular to Casa di Ricovero S. Maria Ausiliatrice, Albergo Popolare Opera Bonomelli, providing emergency shelter, food and clothing to homeless and outcast people as well as medical examinations and pharmacotherapy; Casa Raphael, a center committed to providing support and assistance to terminally ill patients and Associazione Amici della Pediatria.

The Foundation also provides welfare and support to the “Al Tadamun micro finance program” specialized in serving women’s small and micro enterprises in Egypt. The Foundation has made donations to the Bocconi University and Polytechnic of Milan to finance Masters in economics and environmental management and business administration.

With respect to the promotion of meetings and events, the Foundation organized a round table meeting on the development of the Italian industry in November 2005 in Bergamo. The event saw the attendance of representatives from the academic, institutional and industrial sectors.
